The annual Nigeria International Petroleum Summit which is currently holding in Abuja with a view to create a perfect platform for the world to meet Nigeria’s Oil and Gas industry players had in attendance key Nigerian political decision-makers, government officials heads of major of National & International companies, multinational and multilateral organizations, the academia and other relevant stakeholders.More importantly, it is also an international exhibition of economic operators, national and international companies and potential investors coming together to present new technologies and know-how in the petroleum sector.
Speaking to one of the exhibitors at sidelines of the day 2 event, the Head of Department, Trade, and Investment, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA) Adamu Mamman Kontagora has called for more awareness in the free zonal areas of the oil and gas sector.
In a statement he made during an interview with our reporter he said the OGFZA’s mandate is not only to regulate, establish and register oil and gas free zones but to also attract investment opportunities to the government created areas with incentives.
He emphasized the need for people to know about these zones to invest and add value especially in terms of job creation for the people. Although the free zones which have been in existence for almost 20 years have created over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs as well as its major contribution in revenue generation in the oil and gas sector of the economy.
